AKG D5 CS dynamic vocal microphone

Description General The AKG D5 CS is identical to the D5 C, apart from the fact that it’s fitted with a practical on/off switch. This cardioid vocal mic features a Varimotion diaphragm, for a highly transparent, powerful sound. It also minimises feedback. Another property of the D5 CS is the cardioid pickup pattern, which makes it especially sensitive to sound sources that are directly in front of the mic, while keeping ambient noise out. An internal pop filter and integrated shock mount minimise handling noise. D5 CS: patented diaphragm Varimotion technology uses a diaphragm which is thicker in the middle and thinner at the sides. AKG have used this patented technology in some of their microphones, as well as in various headphones. The thicker middle of the diaphragm allows for higher SPL values – in other words, you can get loud! In turn, the thin edges ensure a more extensive low-frequency range. As the diaphragm is combined with a Neodymium magnet, low self-noise and an extensive dynamic range are achieved.
